Its inventor, William Murphy, patented his invention at the beginning of the 20th century (Americans call such beds Murphy Beds or Wall Beds).
In the 90s, Murphy received his first patent for the manufacture of folding beds, and already in 1918 his invention was appreciated by thousands of people.
This bed is made according to the model of the 40s of the last century, while the legs are replaced with aluminum ones instead of wooden ones, and the tarpaulin bed is replaced with synthetic ones.
The design of the bed has successfully passed the test of more than one war in which the United States participated.
It was used in various weather and climatic conditions for the organization of soldiers' rest and deployment of hospitals.
When developing this design, the main requirements for the product were:
- compactness;
- Ease of construction;
- reliability of materials;
- assembly and disassembly speed;
- Cheap manufacturing;
- The possibility of a soldier's comfortable rest;
- the height of the bed is 380 mm, slightly below the knee joint of an average person, which allows you to comfortably sit on it;
- The height of the bed allows you to place all the equipment of a serviceman under it;
- so that when organizing hospitals and infirmaries, the medical staff (mainly women, average height 165 cm) could provide assistance to the wounded without difficulty.
The bed frame is made of aluminum profile pipe.
All fasteners are made of steel.
The folding bed is made of Cordura 600 nylon fabric.
The tension of the sunbed is carried out by transverse jumpers.
The jumpers have plastic insert rings, which can be used to adjust the tension of the sunbed.
The material of the lounger does not stretch and does not sag, thanks to which you can have a comfortable night's rest, instead of sleeping like in a hammock, and suffering from back and lower back pain in the morning.
The set comes with a cover for making the bed.
